“Night Owl”

On a quiet, late Autumn evening, in the still of the night, a Tawny Owl calls out to its mate outside my bedroom window, and in the distance, another replies, its hoot echoing across the valley. It’s such a privilege to hear and is a reminder of how lucky I am to live in the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside. I hold my breath hoping to eavesdrop another call, but my nocturnal friend has flown into the dark.

This collage painting is a celebration of these stunning birds. Rarely observed, this silent winged night predator is just one of the many incredible species found in the South West.
