Meet Peppi.

One of our girls in Devon. I am still not quite sure what breed she is - I think Ancona - but we bought her the day before the first lockdown, each choosing our favourite hen and with the aim of finding a breed both friendly and easy to look after! Being an artist, i went for the prettiest one so only have myself to blame for her sassy behaviour, independence and unwillingness to conform!

It would be fair to say, she isn’t a great layer - too posh to push! So when the off pure white egg appears, it’s little a little omelette all round. Peppi is a real character; her naughtiest deed is eating Tongo’s corn, her known accomplice is Hagen and her pet hate is being picked up, unless it’s dark. Peppi’s favourite pastime is standing under the bird feeder, she is by far the speediest runner when she puts her mind to it and loves her striking, soft black and white feathers and she has become our mischievous bundle of joy despite her attitude!
