Three Little Chaffinches

These gorgeous song birds always take me back to my childhood, lazing about on a Summer’s day listening to their powerful, almost conversational songs. I love painting these little birds - with their soft pink-brown breast and grey-blue crown. Feeding on insects and fruit, Chaffinches' names most likely were originally given from picking through discarded chaff for grain after the farmers had threshed their crops. Their presence in my garden all year round brings me so much joy!
