“Who ate the roses”

Ever since reading “Raising Hare” by Chloe Dalton, my understanding and admiration for this incredible creature in our countryside has grown. As the days in Autumn shorten, ferns turn to copper, the triumphant colours of the Dahlias begin to fade and golden leaves tumble from trees like confetti. It’s a glorious season on Exmoor.

So I couldn’t help creating this collage painting “Who ate the roses?” with Hare showing just a little contrition on her face. She’s in a Somerset garden amongst the dahlias and roses, with only the soft pink sepals left to tell the tale. It’s time to lay low and shelter in her form ready for the season ahead.
